Danielle Charboneau

Danielle, originally from Detroit, Michigan moved to New York City in 2001 to pursue a degree in Fine Art and has recently re-located to Los Angeles as of June 2009. Once she found yoga not only did she find her body, but she found her luminosity from within.

She has been a student of yoga since 1998 and instantly realized the healing powers it had to offer. After completing her degree in painting at the School of Visual Arts, she began to submerge herself in the study of yoga. Travels to Central America, Southeast Asia, and India deepened her interests. She has found that traveling lead her to the path of teaching. Through teaching, she is forever learning from her students, as her students continuously prove to be her most influential teachers.

While living in New York City for the past 9 years, and developing a rich variety of private clients, she has explored many different disciplines of Hatha yoga from Ashtanga and Vinyassa, to Restorative and Iyengar. Living in New York allowed her to immerse herself in countless workshops and retreats over the years. In 2006 she became involved at Atmananda Yoga in Soho where she first started her teaching in 2007. This is where she learned Thai yoga massage under Peter Kaaberbol. She has studied extensively at Yoga Works, the Iyengar Institute of NYC, and Yog-gagna in Dehradun, India. Studying Iyengar in the Himalayas proved to be truly transformational. India is where she started to explore the other limbs of yoga in depth such as pranayama, and meditation. Her outlook on yoga went through a major shift when she was up in the mountains, and because of that experience, there is a new dynamic that has been added to her personal practice, and thus channeled through to her teaching. The history and philosophical teachings of yoga are what moves her the most. Danielle plans to return to India to study as often as she can.

Her favorite aspect of instructing is guiding students to a place where they feel like they can truly let go. She has found that through an intelligently designed practice, the teacher can guide the student or client to a place where their innermost self can start to appear.  All it takes is an open mind. With dedication and commitment, this state of inner serenity will be tapped into quicker and quicker over time, eventually leading to a life of a calmer mind, body, and spirit.

Now based out of Los Angeles, Danielle works privately with clients in their homes, and group classes.  She currently teaches Vinyassa flow, restorative, pre and post natal, and practices Thai yoga massage. Her style is thorough, playful, and unpretentious, finding fun in every moment. She enjoys working with like-minded people that have similar takes on health and well-being.
