Laurie Parlapiano

Laurie's journey towards yoga began around 12 years ago when she entered a class at the Center for Yoga. After the sudden death of her mother she was looking for something to heal her spirit. She walked into a class, not knowing what to expect. She had no clue physical exercise was involved. There was a woman in that class who must have been in her late 70's, with the posture and grace of a 35 year old. When they got to rest in savasana, she was sold! Laurie felt different after that class. She practiced every day after that. Continuing on a healing path, she received her certification as a Massage Technician from the Institute of Psycho-Structural Balancing that has highly influenced her teaching. Laurie completed her yoga teacher training at the Center for Yoga in 1999 and continues to expand her experience by taking workshops and classes. Her classes are influenced by the teachings of Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois and B.K.S. Iyengar as well as John Friend and Desiree Rumbaugh who have passed on teachings of Anusara Yoga. Laurie enjoys bringing an itergration of styles of yoga to her classes as a means of connecting breath, body, mind and spirit. Her greatest joy is to learn from the students themselves. She loves to see people in her classes feel good and have a sense of calm after their yoga practice.
